Manhole Cover Balancer Installation Instructions

1. Confirm the minimum clearance between the manhole flange and the manhole cover, and measure the minimum distance between the cover and the base.

2. Keep the balancer base connector parallel to the upper cover connector. (To do this: adjust the leveling bolts and add a 2mm auxiliary shim at the joint.)

3. Score the balancer connector according to the measured dimensions. Cut. (For a larger cut, cut through the positioning holes.)

4. Insert the cut balancer into the manhole cover and spot weld it in a strip pattern to ensure strength.

5. Loosen the cap nut and disengage the ratchet on the other side. Open the cover to its fullest position. Rotate the ratchet nut in the direction of opening the cover (generally, rotate it four teeth first) to increase the prestress. Under the prestress, tighten the cap nut to engage the ratchet. Close the manhole cover in the protective state, allowing it to rest comfortably between 10° and 20° relative to the manhole flange. (If the cover and flange cannot rest comfortably between 10° and 20°, repeat the above steps to adjust the number of rotating teeth.) Continue tightening the cap nut (a quarter turn) to adjust the PTFE damping.

6. Weld for strength. Adjust the horizontal adjustment bolts as needed to achieve the desired effect.
